14th Xposed International Queer Film Festival & XXXIV. Black International Cinema Berlin

The 14th Xposed International Queer Film Festival in Berlin.

This year, we grew into our 14th edition with 16 feature films and 8 short film programs. We’re proud to expand, not for the sake of expansion but to reflect the varieties of queer stories, communities and characters that are out there. The classic love story is entirely absent in this program, but love is not.

XPOSED has always been about more than the representation of LGBTQI on screen. We love a queer cinema that allows for wildness, for failure, for withdrawal. A queer cinema that refuses the logics of assimilation. Our characters are outcasts, living on the fringes of society. Our directors question the state of the world through the art of montage.

Not only hard candy but endless glory and fame will be awarded to the winners of the 9th LOLLIES at the 12 of May in the Moviemento Lounge. Three prizes are waiting for their new owners in the categories 🏆 BEST XPOSED Short Film, 🏆 Audience Choice Lolly Award for the BEST Short Film and 🏆 Audience Choice Lolly Award for the BEST Feature Film. Also our amazing jury will announce which project wins the 5th Queer Short Film Fund!

Das Festival beginnt am heutigen Donnerstag, den 9. Mai 2019 mit Kurzfilmen um 18:00 Uhr. Um 21:00 Uhr folgt die Berlin Premiere des Sundance Gewinners der Sektion: »Next Innovator Award«. Gezeigt wird das Drama "We are the Animals" von Jeremiah Zagar (Autor: The Orchard).

Hier der Trailer:

With a screenplay by Dan Kitrosser and Jeremiah Zagar based on the celebrated Justin Torres novel, We the Animals is a visceral coming-of-age story propelled by layered performances from its astounding cast – including three talented, young first-time actors – and stunning animated sequences which bring Jonah’s torn inner world to life. Drawing from his documentary background, director Jeremiah Zagar creates an immersive portrait of working class family life and brotherhood.

Synopsis:
"The Wild Boys" The debut feature from Bertrand Mandico tells the tale of five adolescent boys (all played by actresses) enamored by the arts, but drawn to crime and transgression. After a brutal crime committed by the group and aided by Trevor – a deity of chaos they can’t control – they’re punished to board a boat with a captain hell-bent on taming their ferocious appetites.

++++++++++++++++

Prof. Donald Muldrow Griffith (co-founder/director):

This year's festival occurs under the patronage of the German Commission for UNESCO and in cooperation with Dr. Lisa Rüter, Commissioner for Integration of the Tempelhof-Schöneberg district. Screened are films from Africa, the African Diaspora and contributions with intercultural and international perspectives.

The films come from Ghana, Canada, USA, Germany, Israel, Madagascar, Iran, France, Hungary, Italy, Namibia, Cuba, Colombia and Rwanda. In addition to the film contributions, a seminar and the exhibition "Footprints in the Sand?" Exhibition Berlin will be presented.

Black International Cinema Berlin originated from the historical Black Cultural Festival, which was produced and directed by Fountainhead® Tanz Théí¢tre in 1986 for the first time in Europe, a 3-week event in Berlin, which presented the contributions of Black people to world culture through film, theater, dance, music, workshops and seminars, and was an homage to the legendary tap dancer, Carnell Lyons.

A Complexion Change is part of a historical occurrence, brought about by positive and negative investments of individuals, companies and countries for many years and centuries.
